A young Tyson Fury got up and won by knockout after being dramatically floored for first time in his career

Tyson Fury’s trilogy with Deontay Wilder saw him knocked down a total of four times, only to get back up and keep fighting.

Many were stunned, especially in the final round of the first fight in 2018, by the Gypsy King’s ability to get back up and continue, but it wasn’t the first time he hit the canvas.

Few people know about Fury’s US debut against Steve Cunningham in 2013, when the American floored the Briton in shocking fashion.

But few people know about his Commonwealth title fight in 2011, aged 23, when he faced Neven Pajkic.

In just his 17th professional match, Fury faced the undefeated Canadian who also had a 16-0 record going into the first bell.

The first round saw the smaller man cause some problems for the local favorite, but it was the second round where the action really began.

Pajkic launched a forehand that the inexperienced Fury simply didn’t see coming.

This sent him crashing into the canvas, falling backwards onto his butt.

Fury looked shocked more than anything and, fortunately for him, was not seriously injured.

He got back to his feet and fought until the end of the round.

Then, after the next bell, Fury returned the favor by flooring Pajkic twice and forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

Fury said after the fight: “I scared myself for a second.

“Like I always said, heavyweights are heavyweights. He got me with a good shot, a jab to the chin.

“I went down, I got up, I stopped him.

“I would say it shows a true champion to be knocked down like that and get back up again.”

Oleksandr Usyk is hoping to replicate the success that smaller fighters like Pajkic and Cunningham experienced with their knockdowns of Fury when they met on May 18.

However, he knows very well that it is not easy to hold back the Gypsy King.
