A woman died after she was thrown from a third floor balcony during a fight with her boyfriend in San Ysidro on Monday.
The police received calls from witnesses who said they saw a man throwing a woman on the balustrade of a corridor in a balcony in an apartment building on Boulevard de San Ysidro near Avelil Road around 7:20 p.m., said San Diego Police Lieutenant Lou Maggi.
When the police arrived, they found Irene Williams, 61, lying in a courtyard with a serious head trauma and a broken femur, said Maggi. She was taken to the hospital where she died.
The investigators used the description of the man provided by witnesses to find and arrest the boyfriend of the woman, Albert Turner, 57, on the scene a few minutes after the arrival of the police, said Maggi.
Investigators said they thought the two had been involved in an altercation inside an apartment earlier in the evening. At some point, Williams started throwing Turner’s business from the balcony.
He would then have thrown Williams on the edge on the concrete below, said Maggi.
Police reserved Turner in San Diego prison for suspicion of murder.
The incident is the subject of an investigation.
