Medin had been accused of insulting the president, a crime in Türkiye and members of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a Kurdish militant group that Turkey designates as a terrorist organization. The PKK announced on Monday that it dissolves and disarm itself, ending 40 years of conflict with Turkey.
Relations between Sweden and Turkey have been difficult in the past, the Turkish government initially refusing to ratify the attempt at Stockholm to join NATO, among others, the presence of Kurdish groups in the Nordic country.
