As if They could resist putting Alicia Silverstone back in yellow and plaid. The emblematic actress should resume her main role as dear Horowitz in a series in a row without any idea of Peacock.
The series is currently in development with the streamer, according to Variety, and the exact details of the plot have remained silent. The only details we have at this stage are the involvement of Silverstone, the fact that the show will be a continuation of the story told in the 1995 original film and the creative team. In addition, we know that this new attempted spin-off without any idea is different from that which Peacock was planning to do in 2020.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, better known as a team for having co-created the original Gossip Girl series as well as the executive production of the restart series, wrote the series alongside Jordan Weiss. The trio will also produce the series alongside Amy Heckerling, original writer of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the original producer of the film. CBS Studios and Universal Television will also produce.
This is certainly not the first small screen adaptation of the 1995 comedy. After its success with the moviegoers, a television version of the film was broadcast on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999 with Rachel Blanchard – instead of Silverstone – in mind.
Silverstone recently resumed her role without any idea in an advertisement of the Super Bowl in 2023 for Rakuten – so it is clear that she can’t wait to return to Cher’s closet. We don’t blame it at all.
