Moscow (AP) – A Russian general was killed by a car car on Friday, said the best criminal investigation in Russia, in the second attack of this type against a high Russian military officer in four months.
The investigation committee said that Lieutenant-General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the main operational service of the general staff of the Russian armed forces, was killed by an explosive device placed in his car in Balashikha, just outside Moscow.

Committee’s spokesman Svetlana Petrenko said the explosive device was rigged by bursts of shells. She said the investigators were on the scene.
The Russian media have directed videos of a burning vehicle in the courtyard of an apartments building.
The committee did not mention the possible suspects.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova described the murder of Moskalik as a “terrorist attack”.
The attack follows the murder of Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov, who died on December 17 when a hidden bomb on an electric scooter parked in front of his building exploded when leaving for his office. The Russian authorities blamed Ukraine for the murder of Kirillov, and the Ukrainian security agency admitted that it was behind this attack.
Kirillov was the head of the forces of radiation, biological protection and Russia chemicals, the special troops responsible for protecting the military from the use by the enemy of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons and ensuring operations in a contaminated environment. Kirillov’s assistant also died during the attack.
Friday’s bombing came just when US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff was to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss a prohibited peace plan in the United States for Ukraine. The meeting has been their fourth meeting since February.
