The northeast residents of Philadelphia were incredulous for the devastation of which they witnessed in their neighborhood after a small medical plane crashed the previous night near a shopping center. At least seven people – everyone on board and a person on the ground – were killed and at least 19 others were injured.
“Six in the evening – This place is crowded,” said William Vacelli, 55, owner of a second -hand car store, who does not live from the accident site. “Now it’s a crime scene. It seems that a film was shot here. It’s just chaos.
Investigators are looking for answers on the reasons why the medical transport aircraft fell from the sky, less than a minute after taking off with a pediatric patient and his mother. It was the second aviation tragedy to shake the country this week, after nearly 70 people were killed in an outdoor collision on Wednesday between an American Airlines flight and an army helicopter on the Potomac river in Washington.
“It is frightening to have this plane and that of Washington, DC, occurs in such a succession so quickly,” said Anish Philip, 40, software engineer, while he was standing behind the police with his two Young girls on Saturday morning. “I would like to believe that heaven is sure, but that makes me question this.”
While Washington’s wreck was limited to the waters of the Potomac, the Philadelphia accident occurred during a series of blocks and residential companies. The ardent explosion of the accident sent debris, including pieces of the plane, flying in the houses and at least one restaurant. On Saturday, officials said that material damage extended into an area of four to six houses.
