Richmond – A man was found guilty of murder as part of the deadly shooting in 2022 of a man in the bay region, according to legal files.
Bobby Dee Dozier, 39, was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Emari Cook, 26, and is expected to be sentenced on June 27. The jurors also condemned him of three heads of possession of firearms, in particular possession and the assault weapon, according to the judicial archives.
Dozier has four arrests of previous murder, one of which led to a conviction for manslaughter and a sentence of 15 years in prison. In 2007, he would have killed Oscar Alejandre, 42, in Richmond, and was released from prison in 2020, two years before Cook’s death.
On the night of July 14, 2022, Dozier saw Cook near South 49th Street and Cutting Boulevard, called him and shot a gun, according to the prosecutors. Cook made a last effort to fight the weapon, but Dozier freed himself and shot while Cook was trying to run away, police said. Cook was struck in the chest and hand.
Nearby security cameras surprised Dozier in a vehicle, and the license plaque readers helped follow the movements of the car around West Contra Costa. Later, police went down to Martinez de Dozier’s house and found the weapon suspected of murder, authorities announced.
Dozier was also arrested for suspicion of murder in 2005, but was never charged. During the investigation into the murder of Cook, the police linked a phone to Dozier who was recorded under the name of “Freddy Kruger” (sic), according to the judicial archives.
