OAKLAND – A man was killed and another man was injured in a Dimond district shootout on Thursday, the authorities announced.
The first reports were that the two men were 49 years old, but their names were not released. The police did not say where they lived or if they knew each other.
The shooting, which activated an alert of the ball detection system, occurred Thursday around 12:42 p.m. in the 3400 block on Boulevard MacArthur, between midvale and 35th avenues.
Police found one of the men on the scene. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared deceased.
The other man, who was injured more than once, obtained his own transport to a hospital, the authorities said. His condition was not available.
Police did not publish a reason for the shooting or announced arrests.
The investigators have not yet said whether the men were slaughtered by someone on the street or by someone in a passing vehicle.
The murder is the 29th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at that time, the police investigated the same number of homicides.
