A Long List of Leaked ‘Marvel Rivals’ Heroes and Villains Ahead

Marvel Rivals is currently in alpha, which proves that yes, it is more or less a complete Overwatch clone, but no, that doesn’t really matter because it’s still fun and playable as perfectly stylized heroes and villains Mavel is awesome.

Marvel Rivals is supposed to launch with 19 characters, but now that the alpha is live, more are showing up in the files thanks to datamining. I guess you could consider this a “spoiler”, which is a weird term for a hero shooter, but I figured I’d give a warning anyway.

These are from the superhero game dataminer Miller, whose work I have been following since Marvel’s Avengers. He was dating stuff from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but the game broke so bad for him that he couldn’t even log in (sigh), so he moved on to Marvel Rivals, which is meant to be a greater success, no. doubt.

Here are the 20 leaked characters that were found in the files, ultimately doubling the size of the list:

Then, as a reminder, here is the roster with which the game should be launched:

Miller says the unannounced characters mostly have skills you can already see. These many characters already listed imply that not only is NetEase in it for the long haul, but it’s possible we’ll see heroes released much quicker than other games in the genre, but we’ll see. Miller says he thinks Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Cloak and Dagger, Ultron, Thor and Johnny Storm are the ones who seem closest to release compared to the others.

There are also new locations he found in the files, and each of them contains a set of maps, Hydra Base Erebus, Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, Klyntar, Empire of Eternal Night, Krakoa. Strangely, he says, there’s a distinct lack of cosmetic skins in the files, which will undoubtedly be Marvel Rivals’ primary money-maker.

At least initially, Rivals seems poised for success and could prove to be a solid entry into the genre. It’s still early, but it’s a good start, and with a deluge of new characters arriving, it’ll definitely help.
