A larger national flag drapes an Indian mission in the UK amid protests by Khalistan supporters

The Indian Embassy building in London is draped in a large national flag
New Delhi/London:
A national flag larger than previous ones has been unfurled over the Indian High Commission building in London amid protests from Khalistan supporters. On Monday, the embassy, in an epic response to protesters, unfurled a slightly smaller flag over the building after Khalistan supporters pulled down the Indian flag outside the building.
As more than 2,000 Khalistan supporters again showed up outside the building on Wednesday, some of them throwing ink, water bottles and powdered colors at police, the Indian Embassy draped the side of the building with the national flag.
Visuals show a dozen embassy staff on the terrace holding a long tricolor flag as if in a human chain.
Unlike the chaotic scenes on Sunday, Khalistani supporters were barricaded across the road with police standing guard and patrolling the area.
Extra security in London came shortly after Delhi police removed traffic barricades outside the British High Commission, in a move some interpreted as a show of India’s displeasure with the breach in London. Police explained the move as removing barricades that “created obstacles” for commuters.
Following protests from India, the Metropolitan Police in London took no chances, parking more than 20 buses near India House and deploying mounted troops to patrol the streets.
