A hundred railway workers invade the offices of the European Commission – RT in French

At the call of the Sud-Rail union, a hundred railway workers took over the offices of the European Commission located in Paris to the cry of “The SNCF is not for sale!”

A hundred railway workers forced a police roadblock and went to the Champs-Elysées to disrupt a conference at which the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, was speaking. Once there, railway workers arrested the minister.

Sud-Rail had indeed called for demonstrations in the premises of the European Commission in Paris to defend Fret SNCF, threatened by a procedure in Brussels.

The freight subsidiary of the SNCF is accused by the European Commission of having received unjustified aid for more than ten years and could find itself in default of payment if the negotiations between the government and Brussels failed.

This May 23, at 4 p.m., the Minister of Transport must receive the unions and the management of the SNCF to present the result of the negotiations with the European Commission.
