Good training can help you develop the muscles, have a better night’s sleep and feel really good. But that could even help you live longer, revealed a new study.

You don’t even need to do anything drastic to harvest the advantages. Here is what the researchers have found, as well as how to increase your own exercise routine to obtain the advantages.

Meet the experts: Ryan Glatt, CPT, is a senior brain health coach and director of the Fitbrain program at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute in Santa Monica, California. Albert Matheny, RD, CSCS, is a personal coach and co-founder of Soho Strength Lab.

What does the study found?

The study, which was published in the journal TrafficAnalyze the data of two American cohorts of more than 116,000 adults on their exercise routines and their overall health. (The data were collected from participants 15 times over 30 years.)

Scientists found that people who were 300 to 599 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week had mortality of all causes of more than 26 to 31% and a risk of 28 to 38% of mortality by cardiovascular disease. They also presented a risk that could reach a maximum of 27% of dying of something outside cardiovascular disease. (Moderate physical activity is defined as walking, weightlifting and other types of low -intensity intensity exercises, according to the American Medical Association.)

This, of course, goes far beyond the recommended 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise recommended by the Guidelines on physical activity for Americans. But it seems that training more can increase your chances of living longer.

Can exercise make me live longer?

There are a lot of factors that go through the duration of your life, but many research suggests that a habit of exercise is linked to a greater lifespan.

For example, a recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine have found that people over 40 could live an additional 5.3 years if they were as active as the highest 25% of the population. And an older scientific analysis concluded that they are up to 35% less likely to die of any cause compared to their inactive counterparts.

“Physical activity is an essential, but underused strategy, to age well,” says Ryan GlattCPT, Senior Cerebral Health Coach and Director of the Fitbrain Program at Pacific Neuroscience Institute in Santa Monica, California. “Even minimum activity levels can provide substantial health benefits, including disease prevention and better quality of life.”

What type of exercise will make me live longer?

In general, any type of activity seems to help people live longer. However, research suggests that strength training can make you biologically younger, while Kettlebell training can help you age more easily.

If I am not active, how can I do the exercise?

It is important to start slowly, explains Albert Matheny, RD, CSCS, personal coach and co-founder of Soho Force Lab. “At different times in your physical form, different exercises are appropriate,” he says. This means you shouldn’t expect to run a marathon if you don’t even do a walking routine right now.

You can start small by doing things like doing regular walks at a higher intensity, then accelerating to do jogging and races. You can possibly add things like HIIT lessons and strength training.

When you do a strength training, Matheny says it is important to focus on large muscle groups, like your legs. “Body weight exercises – thrusts, squats, boards – are very good for most people,” he said.

If you want a more defined introduction to the exercise, Health of women Has a training plan for four -week beginners to guide you.

In the end, Matheny says it is important to find a routine that you can follow in a coherent way. “Do your best,” he said.
