A dog injures three people, including one seriously, in Guimiliau – Guimiliau

An American bulldog injured a couple and a 13-year-old child in Guimiliau late Saturday evening. According to the first elements, it was 10:30 p.m. when the three people returned to their home.

On returning, the man wanted to hug the dog. But the animal came towards his face and injured his lip. The woman and the young girl wanted to help the victim, but were bitten, in turn, in the hand.

Morlaix firefighters and Landivisiau gendarmes were called to the scene. In view of the injuries, the three members of the family were taken to hospital. The man, seriously injured, in Brest; the other two, in Morlaix.

The euthanized dog

To control the animal, the rescue services called on two dog handlers on Saturday evening, from Châteaulin and Landerneau. The bulldog was euthanized on Sunday morning.

An investigation has been opened by the Brest prosecutor’s office. Despite its large size and square jaw, the American Bulldog is not one of the dogs considered dangerous and subject to declaration.
