At least 80 strokes were fired in a North Carolina district, killing a person and injuring 11 others, the authorities announced on Sunday.
The early Sunday shootout took place in Hickory, said the Sheriff’s Bureau of the Catawba County. No arrest was made, but the authorities said there were more than one shooter.
The shooting took place around 12:45 p.m. at a party in Hickory, said the Catawba County Sheriff.
A victim was in critical condition and 10 others were hospitalized in serious condition, said the sheriff’s office.
The Northern Carolina State Survey Office and the Hickory Police Service are investigating the shooting. The FBI also helps in the case. No arrest has been made and the total number of shots drawn is not yet known.
The Sheriff department has not released the names or ages of the victims.
Investigators said there were up to 100 people at home at home in a house on the street when one or more people released firearms, WSOC-TV reported.
Eyewitness told local journalists that many people assistant to the party came from high schools and people began to disperse, hide and run towards security when shots broke out.
Major Aaron Turk of the Sheriff’s Office said at a press conference that the street was generally calm.
