Tuesday, Bill Belichick’s girlfriend posted on Instagram Long email From Belichick to various recipients concerning efforts to publicize his new book. She also said this: “Full declaration which will be published later in the day. “”
“Today” came and came without communicating. It is now right to wonder what happened to the declaration.
Belichick may have decided not to do it. Someone else may have convinced it not to do it. Or that someone else told him not to do it.
At one point, people from North Carolina must put tar on their heels and take a stand. It is one thing for Belichick to claim that he does not care what others think. (Even if it does it absolutely.) UNC does not have such a luxury. The objectively bad look of his book tour (punctuated by Jordon Hudson’s decision to consider an interview with SLO-FIC softball as a naked fight) finally becomes a bad reflection on the university.
Although North Carolina remains first and foremost a basketball school, it will not be useful to have a football program perceived by foreigners as rivers. How can a reasonable person do not arrive at this conclusion, taking into account recent events?
For as strange as CBS interview, the decision to publish the email was even stranger. It was apparently a Hudson’s effort to explain why she treated Tony Dokoupil like Edward R. Murrow. Belichick, based on email, was deserved in the media asking difficult questions and / or asking him only the questions he wants to answer.
The email also opened the door to new questions. Why, for example, is Berj Najarian a recipient? He is currently working for the Boston College, a direct competitor of North Carolina in ACC.
In addition, Belichick refers to an article on the book, on which he seems to indicate that he had approval. What article does he refer to? There have been many articles published on the book. While the email is dated the same day as the Ben Volin exam Boston Globe has been published, the context suggests that this is an article that has not yet been published.
“We will see what is the title of the article,” writes Belichick, “what I noticed was easily left out – do we have the approval on this subject. I would approve of this article if we can also approve the title, which is in fact more important than the article.”
This strongly implies that someone wrote an article on the book on which Belichick had the power to approve or refute. It is not typical, to say the least.
In addition, we (and probably others) tried to determine who each of the people listed as the recipient of the email. “Michael” is probably the UNC football council of Belichick, Michael Lombardi. “Jofie” is probably Jofie Ferrari-Adler, a book editor, Simon & Schuster. The first very important recipient of the email – “David” – remains unknown.
It is also not known if there will be a declaration or anything else on the debacle of CBS. Or if advertising efforts for the book will continue.
Our assumption is that the rest of the book will be canceled as quickly as that of Kramer, after pulverizing coffee all over Kathie Lee’s dress.
