It could be your hot summer and dog.
While some collect the smell of junior roles apparently linked to the size offered by pillars like Google, Goldman and McKinsey, a pet care company in New York wants to complete an internship that offers an alternative: “Sniffer Halent dog”.
And the job market being what it is, the role, whose remuneration includes $ 25 an hour and “unlimited puppy kisses”, becomes more traction than you think.
Among the more than 100 candidates, Spot & Tango had for the publication, which increased on Wednesday, more than half have baccalaureate diplomas, 20% have a master’s degree and almost 10% of MBAs, statistics on Linkedin Show.
The company prepares meals, snacks and supplements for dogs.
Although it was not a fool in early April – we checked – it is actually a slightly different role from that described.
It started as a dog and pony show prepared by people of public relations of Spot & Tango, but has now turned into a serious marketing internship, told Business Insider, manager of the company.
The role will actually involve customer research and community awareness.
“It will not be a sommelier of dog perfumes,” she said.
Like the work itself, the competition also seems serious. Some candidates have diplomas from the Ivy League. Dayton said that a “friendly knowledge” contacted it via LinkedIn to make sure that the request for his niece for the six -week program would be seen.
DAYTON said that Spot & Tango employees, who include around 50 people in its New York headquarters, have received SMS and emails “constantly” to ask if the work is real. Recommendations also fly.
“Language nostrils”
Many people, eager to prove their bona fidos who love dogs, have included photos of themselves with a dog in their applications.
Dayton said that it was obvious, but also stated in the post description, that the chosen candidate will love dogs, even if the person is not really “nostrils on the tongue on it”.
Instead, she said, who the company selects will spend 35 hours a week roughly between office work by doing things like contacting customers and the rest of attending events and soliciting Gotham to discuss dog owners on the new product of the company for “canine dental well”.
The work should be fun, said Dayton, because the industry is too.
“Animal marks are not above talking about the number two,” she said.
A dog breathing algorithm
Although this is not a surprise, many applications are filled with word games – descriptions of a desire to go “to the nose” in work and jokes on the curriculum vitae came, said Dayton. A candidate described a passion for the creation of “the algorithm for notation of the freshness of the first breath of the world”. Take that, ai.
Another detailed the love of the person for the sampling of cheeses, while the section of the “achievements” of the curriculum vitae of a person included the self-confused distinction “the best owner of dog 2024.”
A possible reason why the internship has aroused an interest – beyond those who hope to demonstrate their urban devil carries the fantasy of Pawda – is that so many of us are obsessed with our pets. These are a big business.
Revenues in the pet care industry more than quadrupled from 2004 to 2021, totaling $ 10.7 billion in 2021, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Labor Department.
Jeffrey Simmons, CEO of Elanco Animal Health, which makes drugs and pet vaccines and livestock, told Bi that factors such as aging population, loneliness, pandemic and a decrease in the number of people with children have pushed certain households to make pets and removed from others.
Simmons also said that, in some cases, the prevalence of people’s anxiety is also a factor.
“Pets become non-pharmaceutical intervention,” he said.
SPOT & TANGO has also increased in generation Z and “pet parents”, especially in urban areas. So, said Dayton, it is logical that someone in New York does basic marketing – speak with people in dog parks and interact with smaller dog communities.
She said the internship could lead to a more important role. This would require the right candidate, perhaps someone who shows an obstinate determination.
“It’s a five -sided work,” said Dayton. “No one said that the dog’s breath was pretty.”
