England players at the Premier Indian League will start to go home today after the tournament suspension for a week due to a climbing of hostility between India and Pakistan.
Mail Sport understands that some of the 10 English cricket players – whose number includes Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell and Phil Salt – had to be on the way to the United Kingdom as of this afternoon after the decision to stop the season with 12 games of its group phase to play.
“ The decision was taken by the IPL governance council after a consultation due with all key stakeholders following representations of most franchises, who transmitted the concern and feelings of their players, as well as the views of the diffuser, sponsors and fans ” read a declaration of the IPL.
“Other updates concerning the new calendar and the new places in the tournament will be announced in time after a full assessment of the situation in consultation with the authorities and the stakeholders concerned.”
The IPL final is currently scheduled for May 25, but to give things seven days will send it in June, and it is uncertain at this stage if all players abroad will return.
However, a spokesperson for the ECB said this morning that they were still expecting the five tests of India here from next month “going forward as expected”.

Thursday’s match between the kings of Punjab and the capitals of Delhi in Dharamsala was abandoned halfway in the first sleeves following a failure of the projection.
