India said early Wednesday that it launched a military operation against Pakistan, hitting “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan and Pakistan in a Kashmir, in a major climbing of tensions between the two neighbors.
“These stages are involved following the Barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam during which 25 Indians and a Nepalese citizen were murdered,” the Indian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, referring to an attack last month the tourists of the cashmere administered by the administration in India.
“Our actions have been targeted, measured and not climbed. No Pakistani military installation has been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable deduction in the selection of objectives and the method of execution,” the press release added.
India said nine sites in total were targeted.
Several noisy explosions have been heard at cashmere administered by Pakistan, according to a CNN journalist.
The Pakistani army said India had hit missiles.
“Pakistan will respond to it at a time and a place of choice,” Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said in Geo TV. “This odious provocation will not remain unanswered.”
Pakistani military sources told CNN that five sites had been struck in Kotli, Ahmadpur East, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Muridke.
Three of these locations – Kotli, Muzaffarabad and Bagh are the cashmere administered by Pakistan. Ahmadpur East and Muridke are both in the province of Punjab in Pakistan.
