Foxborough, Mass. – The Patriots of New England announced today that the former large receiver Julian Edelman was elected to the temple of the fame of the patriots as 37 as 37th inducted. Edelman joins Tom Brady (2024), Troy Brown (2012), Tedy Bruschi (2013), Kevin Faulk (2016), Ty Law (2014), Matt Light (2018), Willie McGinest (2015), Richard Seymour (2020) and Mike Vrabel (2023) for the 10th player to enter the patriots Bowl.
Edelman will join the former head coach Bill Bâlls, who was appointed as a contributor to the temple of the renown of the patriots by the president and chief executive officer Robert Kraft during a media session during annual League meetings in Palm Beach, Florida.
“Julian Edelman is one of the great successes in the history of our franchise,” said Kraft. “There are not many players who win a NFL place in a position they have never played before. Julian did not only do this as seventh -round draft selection, but he ended his career with the second most important reception in the history of the franchise and as a triple champion of the Super Bowl, including his latest MVP Super Bowl.
Edelman has spent his entire 12 -year career with the Patriots after initially joined the team as a seventh -round choice in the 2009 NFL 2009 NFL. He is second in the history of the team with 620 receptions, fourth with 6,822 reception yards and ninth with 36 affected. He also had 58 attempts on the ground for 413 yards, the most precipitated attempts and the yards on the ground by a broad receiver in the history of the patriots. Its 9,869 versatile yards are fourth in the history of the team. Edelman also ranks third in the history of the NFL with 118 post-season receptions, behind Travis Kelce (178) and Jerry Rice (151). Its 1,442 post-season reception yards are also classified third of all time, behind Rice (2,245) and Kelce (2,078). Member of three Super Bowl championship teams, Edelman achieved key performance at crucial moments during the three super bowls victories. He was appointed MVP of the Super Bowl LIII after finishing with 10 receptions for 141 yards in the victory against the Rams of Los Angeles. Edelman finished with 5 receptions for 87 yards, including a miraculous heter of 23 yards, diving and finger at the end of the fourth quarter of the victory against Atlanta in the Super Bowl Li. He also caught the pass of a winning touch of 3 yards with 2:06 to play in the fourth quarter of the Victory of the Super Bowl XLIX against Seattle. A university quarter who converted into a wide receiver after entering the NFL, Edelman made his mark as a turnover of clearance at the start of his career. Edelman totaled 177 chipping truck yields for 1,986 yards and an average of 11.2 yards, which is the 12th higher of the league annals (100 chipped covers). He holds the team record with 4 covers of clearance for a touchdown and established a deductible record with a return of a boot of release of 94 yards for a touch against Miami on January 2, 2011. During the 2011 season, he was also called to play in defense and finished the season with 10 plated in total as a reserve in the secondary.
