David Lee Roth played his first full concert in five years at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland, Saturday evening (May 3). The singer interpreted a set of 16 songs made up entirely of Van Halen Classics with his solo group.
The previous full DIAMOND DAVE show took place at the opening of KISS on March 10, 2020, just a few days before the closure of the concert industry pandemic. Since then, DLR has canceled a planned residence in Las Vegas and apparently withdrawn from the scene before playing a few mini-sets during business concerts.

At the M3 Rock Festival, DLR launched things with “Panama” and sang other Van Halen favorites like “Runnin ‘With The Devil”, “Jamie’s Cryin'”, “Hot for Teacher”, “Ain’t does not speak”, and the “jump”. The only non -original song by Van Halen he made was the “You Really Got Me” Kinks, which covered VH on their first album.

DLR sported an entirely leather outfit during the M3 Rock Festival concert, and seemed to be in a jovial mood in the images filmed with fans published on Youtube.
Before his scene hiatus, Roth’s performances have often been criticized, especially for his voice, but comments on YouTube are extremely positive for his set at the M3 Rock Fest.
A person wrote: “Clissa this with a morbid desire to see and hear a sinking, but damn … he has a return !!!
Perhaps DLR was motivated by the criticism of Sammy Hagar, because the two have continued to quarrely in recent years. Hagar is currently making its own set of songs mainly from Van Halen as part of its residence “Best of All Worlds” in Las Vegas.
David Lee Roth has two other shows on his calendar in 2025, a concert of August 29 in Thackerville, Oklahoma, and a concert of September 12 in Saratoga, California. Tickets for both dates are available here.
