The record match of Buddy Hield to attach match 7 raises warriors on rockets

Stephen Curry inserted the dagger with 2:55 to play and Buddy Hield twisted him in the heart of Houston’s Rockets on the following possession.

After three tests and a match 7 that argues, the Warriors continue, and although it has become clear when Curry sank a pass 3 to set them up by 17, it was normal that the Hield was the one who put an arc on the 103-89 victory on Sunday evening.

Corner 3 to prolong the advance at 20 was the eighth of the Hield night, and he would add one more before the expiration of the time to finish with 33 points in a team on 9 shots out of 11 remotely.

“This is what the game asked and he answered it,” said Curry.

“And if I didn’t throw him a grenade, he would have been 9 years old for 10,” added Draymond Green. “He made winning games all night.”

Admittedly, Hield recorded a 37-minute summit, took defensive assignments against Fred Vanvleet and Jalen Green and did not stop making 3 after half.

But in the first match 7 of his career, Hield will remain the best known for his first half.

The Warriors entered the changing rooms at the top of 51-39, mainly thanks to 22 points from a red-heated hardening. With the Rockets successfully suffocating Batman (Curry) and Robin (Jimmy Butler III), Alfred killed six of his seven attempts by 3 points before the intermission.

“Buddy becoming hot has changed the whole match in the first half,” said coach Steve Kerr.

It is impossible to know where the Warriors would be without display of lighting the lights of Hield in the first half, but Kerr said that he “had never hesitated” to keep it in the first five.

The shooting eats only one match after Hield was chosen without goal while missing his four attempts on the field in a defeat of match 6. He scored four points in match 5 and combined for seven – with a 3 -point – in the first two games in the series.

His best match so far has left the bench, when he has scored 17 in match 3 and convinced Kerr to insert him into the starting range for the match 4. This combination – alongside Curry, Butler, Green and Brandin Podziemski – said Kerr, was “by far our best unit to five men in the series”.

Speaking to Kevon Looney on the bench, Hield pointed out in his place in the departure formation.

“Like, guy, I’m so happy to start tonight. I don’t know how it would have been to get out of the bench because the bench release in a match 7 would have been really difficult,” said Hield. “So, just start and get the tremors out. It’s a childhood dream. We all talk about match 7, we all want to play in match 7. But really playing in a game 7 and we prepare for it, it is one of the most difficult things of all time.”

This is the ninth season of Hield in the NBA but only its second taste for the playoffs. It was eliminated in four games with the Philadelphia 76ers last spring.

His first match 7 was not only one to remember, but one for records. His nine 3 points equaled Donte Divincenzo (with the Knicks last May) for the most in all matches 7 in the history of the playoffs, while his 33 points were the most by all the players who had a goalless goal.

However, his shooting was not all his teammates who cared to speak. Hield helped contain Vanvleet just 3 out of 6 beyond the arc and Jalen Green at a total of eight points.

“It was not only a luminous shooting performance of Buddy; it was a double -meaning performance,” said Kerr. “I thought her defense was fantastic.”

“The 33 points were great, nine 3s – incredible,” added Green. “But what he did on the defensive was even more impressive.”

“It is a difficult cover, it is sure, when he makes shots, but he made so many good games on the defensive side of the ball, obtaining the ball where he had to go,” said Butler, paying his boyfriend a rare compliment. “Buddy was really, really, really big for us tonight.”

The easy -to -live personality of the Bahamian was a source of lightness in the locker room, in particular since the arrival of Butler, but he proved that he was locked up for the most important game of his career. Does that seem familiar?

If there was one thing such as match 6 Klay, could there be the match 7 Buddy?

“To have the confidence of this shooting game that the game says to shoot and let it fly and we will live with it. I am happy for him because he works so hard all year round,” said Curry. “Get to know him this season, you see how basketball means for him and know that this is only his second race in the playoff series, to have a match like that in a match 7 … It’s quite special.”
