The record match of Buddy Hield to attach match 7 raises warriors on rockets

Stephen Curry inserted the dagger with 2:55 to play and Buddy Hield twisted him in the heart of Houston’s Rockets on the following possession.

His best match so far has left the bench, when he has scored 17 in match 3 and convinced Kerr to insert him into the starting range for the match 4. This combination – alongside Curry, Butler, Green and Brandin Podziemski – said Kerr, was “by far our best unit to five men in the series”.

Speaking to Kevon Looney on the bench, Hield pointed out in his place in the departure formation.

“Like, guy, I’m so happy to start tonight. I don’t know how it would have been to get out of the bench because the bench release in a match 7 would have been really difficult,” said Hield. “So, just start and get the tremors out. It’s a childhood dream. We all talk about match 7, we all want to play in match 7. But really playing in a game 7 and we prepare for it, it is one of the most difficult things of all time.”

This is the ninth season of Hield in the NBA but only its second taste for the playoffs. It was eliminated in four games with the Philadelphia 76ers last spring.

His first match 7 was not only one to remember, but one for records. His nine 3 points equaled Donte Divincenzo (with the Knicks last May) for the most in all matches 7 in the history of the playoffs, while his 33 points were the most by all the players who had a goalless goal.

However, his shooting was not all his teammates who cared to speak. Hield helped contain Vanvleet just 3 out of 6 beyond the arc and Jalen Green at a total of eight points.

“It was not only a luminous shooting performance of Buddy; it was a double -meaning performance,” said Kerr. “I thought her defense was fantastic.”

“The 33 points were great, nine 3s – incredible,” added Green. “But what he did on the defensive was even more impressive.”
