Alex Albon was stripped of his fourth place in Miami Grand Prix Sprint following a steward investigation.
The safety car was summoned after Liam Lawson cut the rear of Aston Martin de Fernando Alonso at the 12 turn, sending the F1 double champion to a lap, crushing a wall.
The 18 -round race ended behind the safety car, Albon taking a superb fourth. The Thai-British driver was promoted to a checkered flag while the Verstappen Max Verstappen of Red Bull fell in the 17th and last due to the sentence of 10 seconds for a dangerous release.
While the flag dropped, the commissioners confirmed an alleged violation of article 55.7 of the Sporting FIA regulation for Albon, concerning the minimum time under the safety car.
The regulations stipulate that: “All competing cars must reduce speed and train online behind the safety car to more than 10 car lengths”, “being necessary to be above the minimum ECU time on the delta.
The commissioners found that Albon “was below the minimum time set in the ECU in three consecutive sectors at the start of the safety car”.
As such, the standard sanction of a five -second penalty was distributed, although the commissioners attenuated it due to track conditions and no dangerous “dangerous” situation has occurred.
Albon goes from P4 to P12, with George Russell, launches Stroll, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda all moving a place with Kimi Antonelli picking up a point.
However, Lawson also faces an investigation to collide with Fernando Alonso.
