A spokesperson for the Finnish Perm representative confirmed that the sauna was closed for renovations, but they did not have a exact calendar for when he reopens.
Diplomats who regularly use the facilities told Politico that they expect that it would be closed for about a year.
“The Finnish diplomatic company of Sauna is very well alive this year,” the spokesman told Politico.
“We will use alternative saunas, including that of the ambassador’s residence,” they said.
For those who have no diplomatic privileges, the public sauna in the Mission of Finnish sailors in the neighboring street Jacques de Lalaing “also offers excellent experience of Sauna,” said the spokesperson.
Most Finnish diplomatic buildings have a sauna on the scene.
There is so important a good sweat for the Finnish policy and diplomacy that the country’s Sauna company grants an annual prize, the Löylynhenki Award, for the promotion of the culture of the Finnish sauna.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs collected the prize in 2011 in the name of “Finnish diplomacy of the Sauna and diplomats of Sauna”.
