Nascar announced Sunday evening that Ryan Preece and Joey Logano’s cars had been disqualified for failing an inspection after the race.
Preece had finished second and Logano had finished fifth before the two cars were disqualified. Preece is now listed as finishing 38th; Logano 39th in the field of 39 cars. They both mark only one point.
Nascar cited the preece car for the failure of rule 14.5.8.f (had three holds instead of the two required).
Nascar cited Logano for having violated the rules 14.5.8.e and 14.1.p (missing a spoiler bolt).
The Penske team said on Sunday evening that it wouldn’t appeal:
“Team 22, Penske Ford Mustang, was disqualified after the inspection after the race in Talladega today. One of the 18 bolts on the surface of the spoiler that connected to the base turned out to be loose, and Nascar penalized the team accordingly.
The car of the winner of the Austin Cindric race succeeded in the inspection.
