The Packers Personnel Department unknown that Sorrell paid for its way to come to Green Bay, but the operations of the director of Milt Hendrickson football admitted to having been smothered once it was shown the images of the Sorrell emotional press conference.
This confirmed a large part of what packers learned about Sorrell during the pre-trafic process. In addition to being a rusher of sporting pass, Sorrell plays with passion, robustness and physical.
Hendrickson thinks that these features will keep Sorrell in the league for a very long time.
“You know what it means (for him), not only to be in the National Football League, but to be here,” Hendrickson told Sorrell to Green Bay. “For him to bet on himself – if this guy remains healthy, he will play as long as he wishes.”
As a perspective, Sorrell has the elite on the rise. He flowered from a recruit of three stars to a three-year starter for the Longhorns, recording 132 plated (25½ for a defeat), 15½ bags and 29 quarter-arre in 49 collegial appearances.
As a senior, Sorrell led Texas with 12 quarters to accompany 11 plated for a defeat and six best career bags. He attended the senior Bowl, where he was trained by the packers’ defensive quality control coach, Wendel Davis.
Sorrell attended the NFL screening combination in February and timed a period of 4.68 in the dashboard of 40 yards with a 10 -foot 1 -foot jump, contributing to its relative sports score of 9.27 (out of 10).
Student of the game, Sorrell told the defensive coordinator of Packers Jeff Hafley when he entered the lambeau field which he had spent a lot of time studying the game of Rashan Gary and is eager to learn from the Pro-Bowl defensive of Green Bay.
“I think my best is still in front of me and I just developed, I just put a better year and a year,” said Sorrell. “Looking at just a band (from Gary), similar types of body, there are a lot of things I learned and I tried to imitate and use in my game. I am ready to face with him and sit and learn.”
This led to an unforgettable first week in his new house. While Sorrell knew that he was unlikely that he was selected in the first round, he wanted to be in Green Bay for himself and his family.
Fan for life of the NFL and the project itself, Sorrell was delighted to share the project scene with Goodell. The fact of making the hug of ceremony even more special was the fact that the NFL commissioner came and spoke with Sorrell after not having been drafted on Friday.
Sorrell arrives in Green Bay two days after the Packers wrote his Texas teammate, the receiver Matthew Golden, in the first round (n ° 23 in total). These are the first two longhorns to be drafted by packers since Jermichael Finley in 2008.
All of this seemed very very fish. Or as Hendrickson suggested it in his first remarks on Sorrell … Some things are just supposed to be.
“I play for something bigger than football and more for me, and it really starts with my family,” said Sorrell. “I lost my older brother at the age of 16 and at that time, I had to make a decision in my life, and I made the decision to give football all I have.
“I’m always going to have this passion and this hunger and that is honestly what makes me the player I am.”
