A young girl was killed after being hit by a car on Friday evening as he crossed the street in Encinitas, said the sheriff’s office of the county of San Diego.
The incident, which took place at 6:51 p.m., near the Boulevard d’Encinitas and the village Square Drive, occurred after a Nissan Xterra traveling to the west collided with a Ford Fusion traveling south. The Xterra then struck the 12 -year -old girl, who was not identified by the authorities.
The drivers of the two cars involved in the accident remained on the scene and the consumption of drugs or alcohol is not suspected, said the sheriff’s office.
The cause of the accident is the subject of an investigation by the traffic investigators of the North coastal station and the team for reconstructing accidents in the sheriff’s traffic. The sheriff’s office asks witnesses to call on (858) 565-5200.
