Luton revealed that the flames broke out while a device caught fire in the stadium laundry
Luton entered the knee of today’s knee in a fight for the survival of the championship, only one year after their relegation of the Premier League.
Matt Bloomfield’s team sits 22nd in the table only behind Derby in the last safe place on the difference in goals. Meanwhile, their relegation rivals are close late, with Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle following only three points per room.
With two games to do this season, Luton is trying to avoid becoming the first team from Sunderland in 2017-2018 to be relegated to the English high flight, then finished last in the championship the following season.
Despite the fear of fire, Luton published a statement at 10:39 pm, confirming that it would not be a “disturbance” of their confrontation with Coventry.
He said: “We would like to advise the supporters according to which reports from an incident to Kenilworth Road tonight, there is no disturbance in the match of tomorrow with Coventry City.
“ The smoke came from a small device that had caught fire in the stadium laundry, which was contained in this area and was treated quickly to avoid any substantial damage.
“We would like to thank a big thank you to the Fire & Rescue beds for their rapid intervention, as well as club partners and staff who are also on site to help solve the problem and make sure everything is certain.”
At the opposite end of the table, Coventry will seek to bounce back after a 3-1 defeat by Argyle last week to continue his attempt to make the playoffs.
