Friday, Los Angeles police published the video of Jillian Lauren’s shooting, an author and the wife of the bassist of Weezer, Scott Shriner. The LAPD said that Lauren had pointed out a pistol and shot police this month after learning them with armed suspects.
The police video, spanned together from cameras brought to the police of the police and surveillance sequences, showed confusion in the times leading to the incident, which left Lauren, 51, hospitalized with a ball injury.
LAPD officers helped California Highway Patrol to find three suspected suspects in a success when they met Lauren walking in the backyard of her Eagle Rock house holding a pistol.
The video of the worn cameras of the body of several officers who responded was obstructed by a fence around the court of Lauren; We could hear the police screaming in Lauren to drop her weapon for several minutes. Another recording, from a nearby security camera, apparently without sound, seemed to show Lauren a tour of a tour and raise the weapon, followed by police balls giving dirt near her feet a moment later.
The audio of a call to 911 by one of Lauren’s neighbors said that Lauren believed that she was dismissed by one of the suspects.
“There were three men, and one of them shot him, and the cops are looking for him right now,” said the neighbor saying to an operator from 911. “They have their weapons.”
Lauren was reserved for suspicion of attempted murder of a peace agent and filed a deposit. It is not known if the case was given to the office of the County Prosecutor of Los Angeles, who has the last word on the deposit of criminal charges. A spokesperson for the district prosecutor did not immediately respond to a request for comments on Friday.
The celebrity of Lauren and the circumstances of the shooting sparked a debate on the question of whether it was justified to defend her property.
The excavation accident that launched the incident occurred near Highway 134 and Figueroa Street. Police quickly started to receive calls from 911 neighbors who spotted the suspects trying to hide in the backyards.
The video of the security camera shows the suspects walking near a swimming pool in a house on Waldo Place and falling behind a trampoline, before mounting a hill.
The trio of officers in pursuit went to the backyard and climbed a wall to a fence that separated the house from Lauren’s property. The LAPD video shows Lauren, dressed in a purple Wezer t-shirt and black tights, walking in the courtyard with a black handgun, looking around as thought that she was on a high alert.
We can hear the officers on the other side of the fence so that she drops her weapon, although a helicopter hovering above can prevent him from hearing them.
“Madam, we are trying to help you,” says one. “Place the gun, you’re going to be shot.”
After several minutes of plea, one of the officers said to others that Lauren had lifted her weapon.
“Not to us, but she just raised it,” the officer is heard.
A few moments later, an officer is heard saying: “OK, she shaved it”, followed almost immediately by the sound of at least six shots fired quickly.
After filming, Lauren is seen turning and heading for her house, before the video cuts.
A neighbor called 911, apparently at Lauren’s request, to point out that she had been shot by three men who stood on the other side of her fence.
“He was in my courtyard, so that’s where he shot him,” said the appellant.
Lauren can be heard in the background of the call.
“I had my weapon and he said: put this pistol, put this pistol. I said to put your F -ING sector,” she said. “Oh, and then he pulled me.”
Lauren stayed at her house for about an hour after the shooting, but finally emerged to face the LAPD officers who were waiting outside.
The video showed her lying in the street as an officer handed her, noting that she had been shot in the arm. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police said they had recovered a 9 mm Glock weapon and a worn shell case.
Police said one of the suspects of flight offense had been detained but released after questioning, awaiting accusations.
Lauren should appear in court at the end of the month.
A successful author, she was recognized for her 2010 memories, “some girls: my life in a harem”, describing her experiences in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. In 2023, Lauren published “Behold the Monster: Faceing America in the most prolific series”, on the basis of his interviews with the serial killer Samuel Little.
