Charlotte, NC – The Carolina Panthers have selected the recipient of the Arizona Tetairoa McMillan with the overall choice n ° 8 in the draft of the NFL Thursday evening after obtaining a solid approval from the quarterrière Bryce Young.
McMillan said the third year QB told him that he had openly encouraged the director general of the Panthers Dan Morgan and coach Dave Canales to write him after working together last summer at the 3DQB football camp in California.
“Bryce, he said to them:” Hey, we have to choose this type “,” said McMillan. “Although I have the impression of having done what I had to do to be in this position, I give credit to Bryce for having guaranteed for me and, finally, to take the chance on me.”
The two have a story together, after having contributed as the Trinity League rivals to Mater Dei (Young) and Servite (McMillan), although Young was two years ahead of McMillan in high school.
McMillan remembers Young Mater Dei to a 46-37 victory over his school in a national television match. He moved away by believing that Young, who would continue to win the Alabama Heisman Trophy, was the best high school player in the country.
McMillan said he was surprised when Young had a hard time at the start of his career in the NFL, but thinks that the QB found its boastful towards the end of last season.
Now he says they are one step ahead to bring the “Cali-cali connection” with Caroline.
“He’s someone I tried to grow,” said McMillan about Young. “To finally be able to be in his team and lucky enough to catch his passes, I have the impression that the sky is the limit for both of us in this offense.”
The Panthers selected the Large Xavier Legette receiver from Southern Caroline with the 31st choice in total in 2024, but felt like you need to add more firepower in attack. This decision is logical since the other team’s departure receiver, Adam Thielen, will be 35 years old in August.
The 6 -foot McMillan 4 inches and 219 pounds could provide immediate help.
It was a first All-American team last season and ranked third at the FBS with 1,319 reception yards while making an average of 15.7 yards per capture. He led the Wildcats with 84 receptions and had eight hits.
“I think the thing that comes out of the band on TET is how fluid it is and its body control and its ability to adapt to all types of throws,” said Morgan. “His ray of capture and his hands are an elite. He catches everything apart from his frame. He can win the jump ball on the field and in the red zone. He has had 18 affected in the past two years, so he puts the ball in the goal area.”
McMillan becomes the first Arizona receiver to be chosen in the first round.
He set a school record with 3,423 yards in reception, beating the brand previously held by the current Arizona receiver, Bobby Wade. He set another school record and caught the eyes of the scouts with a 304 yards match against the New Mexico.
Canales delighted McMillan’s ability to make cuts at the top of its routes.
“The guy is a baller,” said Canales. “There is a simple way to watch it and it is to watch a film and (that’s where) the balls arise and make games in great moments, and they always seek to do something special.”
The panthers chose to improve their attack in the first round instead of addressing a defense that was the worst of the League last season.

Graham was a selection of first team in the Associated Press All-American team. He had 45 plated, 7.0 bags and 3½ plated for defeat last season.
During the Michigan National Championship season in 2023, Graham was the defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl when the Wolverines beat Alabama in overtime to qualify for the match for the university football playoffs.
“It is a DNA match for our defense. He is a disturbing interior penetrator and can affect the pocket from the inside. He produces in different ways,” said Berry.
