Neeraj Chopra retaliated on the Internet trolls who questioned his love for his country and attacked his family after the ACE athlete extended an invitation to Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan for the next javelin throwing event in Bengaluru.
The invitation to the Javellin Classic Javelin event of Neeraj Chopra to the Nadeem Olympic champion was sent before the terrorist attack of Pahalgam. However, Neeraj was subjected to a barrier of criticism of social media for inviting a Pakistani athlete to India, while many have questioned his love for the country.
In a striking statement on the social media platform X, Neeraj said that Nadeem’s participation in the NC Classic was “ out of the question ” after Phalagam’s terrorist attack. He also criticized the trolls who directed hatred towards him and abused his family.
“There have been so many discussions on my decision to invite Arshad Nadeem to participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, and most of them were hatred and abuses,” wrote Neeraj on X.
“They didn’t even leave my family. The classic was completely out of the question. »»
Neeraj said it was painful to see that his silence led to his integrity questioned when he always kept India in front of his own interests.
“My country and its interests will always come first. For those who undergo the loss of their people, my thoughts and my prayers are with you. With the whole nation, I am both injured and angry with what happened. I am convinced that our country’s response will show our strength as a nation and that justice will be signified,” he said.
“I have bore my country with pride for so many years now, and so it hurts to see my integrity called into question. It hurts me that I have to explain myself to the people who target me and my family, for no reason. We are simple people, please don’t do anything to us.

“I am generally a man of a few words, but that does not mean that I will not talk about what I think is bad. More when it comes to questioning my love for our country, and the respect and honor of my family.
“There have been so many discussions on my decision to invite Arshad Nadeem to participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, and most of them were hatred and abuse,” said Neeraj through a press release published on his social networks. “They didn’t even leave my family.
“After all that has happened in the last 48 hours, the presence of Arshad at the NC Classic was completely out of the question. My country and its interests will always come first. For those who cross the loss of their people, my thoughts and my prayers are with you.
“I have bore my country with pride for so many years now, and so it hurts to see my integrity called into question. It hurts me that I have to explain myself to the people who target me and my family, for no reason. We are simple people, please don’t do anything to us.
“I also find it difficult to understand how people change their opinion. When my mother – in her simplicity – had made an innocent comment a year ago, there was a wave of praise for her opinions. Today, the same people have not prevented it from targeting it for this same declaration.
“Me, in the meantime, I will work even harder to make sure that the world remembers India and looks at it with envy and respect for all the right reasons.”
