THE NFL draft is finally there. Let’s move on to the latest information I hear around the league …
• I was joking with a few guys by phone last night than that, as I see, became the kiss draft.
What does that mean? Whether the teams will be on the chronometer of your choice n ° 10, 15 or 20, and will see a player they like, but want to do it, say, five choices later, thinking that he will always be there. The problem will therefore be that there is a supersaturation of the teams who seek to descend and very little who seek to come. So this is the project where, if you are a managing director or a coach, and you see a guy you love, you will say kissAnd take it.
This occurred last year at n ° 12, when Denver’s broncos had Bo Nix as the second best quarter of the draft, behind Jayden Daniels, and decided not to worry about the draft niche, and I just went with the guy they loved. Eighteen departures and a berth in the playoffs later, and I do not think that anyone really has too much on the value that broncos obtained at 12 years old rather than exchanging to bring it elsewhere.

Nix might have taken a fairly good fall if he didn’t do it at 12 years old. The only team I could find that I think would have considered taking it in the first round was the Saints of New Orleans, who took Taliese Fuaga at 14. Maybe they would have taken Nix, given the luck. But if he had gone through New Orleans, I think he could have fallen in the second round.
Denver had no second round – he actually went to the saints as part of the Broncos hiring Sean Payton. So they chose not to try to become cute. They said, in short, kiss.
I think there will be many this evening.
• Speaking of the saints, their quarter situation obviously remains evolving.
To examine, there was one point in the offseason when Derek Carr wanted an increase, then a trade, then the saints unilaterally converted the vast majority of his 2025 money from the basic salary to a signature bonus, which essentially locked it with the team for the year. After that, the news of the potential shoulder surgery – the stem from a 23 – ground injury – on the ground, and many questions have followed (older quarters generally have a lot of wear on the shoulder to throw and could use surgery).
Hearing the tone of GM Mickey Loomis during his Wednesday press conference only strengthened the idea that things are not in the best place at the moment between the team and the quarter.
• I think the New York giants will take a quarter of a quarter… Thursday or Friday.
I don’t think it will be with the third choice. And I think there are relationships, and the work done, which has nothing to do with SheDer Sanders who should not be ignored here.
My understanding is that the coach of the Giants Brian Daboll spent a lot of time talking and knowing Jaxson Dart d’Ole Miss in the weeks preceding the draft (he did the same with Sanders). There are not two people you find who are higher on Dart than the assistant coaches of the Charlie Weis Jr. and Joe Judge rebels. Weis’ father, Charlie Sr., is one of the Daboll coaches mentors. Meanwhile, the judge, who was the predecessor of Daboll in New York, was also his personnel companion of the Patriots from 2013 to 18.
I cannot say with certainty what Daboll thinks of Dart. But I can say with a good degree of confidence that what he gets from Oxford on the quarter -back from three years of Ole Miss – which was good enough to encourage Lane Kiffin to cook the concepts of the NFL based on the west coast in the baylor -type propagation offensive that he built for the dry – is brilliant. And these things count with such a great decision.
• An interesting by-product of the Nile era with regard to the project: it infiltrates the way the players train, which gave the teams another layer of character search to dig.
A coach raised this with me on Wednesday, and how in some programs below the blue blood level, players really have time and roles as part of their transactions. These programs are in a difficult situation, where if they say no, they may be poached by rivals richer. They will therefore acquire, and the guys will have a relative configuration of Country Club for their last year or two in college, which can make the evaluation of ethics and practice ethics habits.
Of course, you might say that a guy asking who tells you what you need to know.
• Among the things I heard by bringing us closer to the project, the Pittsburgh Steelers explore at least a 21 -year -old descent.
Another way to help add to their six choices would be to exchange George Pickens. An intention to do it would be a way of explaining the amount of work they have done on Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State, which I heard that I did very well for the Steelers (although I still think that the defensive line or the interior quarter would be more likely at 21).
• We mentioned the mass statistics of the lean body that some teams now use with players as injury predictor and growth as pros – Abdul Carter was the one we have raised as a little low.
The Michigan DT Mason Graham is another player who has a little lower number, which could be a problem for teams such as the Chicago Bears which traditionally rely on this statistics.
• I made Mike Green Marshall slippery The first round in my simulation. I think he could go up to 15 to Atlanta or 17 to Cincinnati, but his perspectives are a bit of a motion target because of Allegations of sexual assault of college.
Green denied the accusations, but decisions on this type of risk go to the security services of a team, then, finally, to the owners. And some owners will not want to take a risk, even if a guy has been authorized, especially in cases where there is more than one incident.
For this reason, just or not, Green is outside the boards of directors of certain teams.
• A very polarizing perspective is Texas A & M Edge Shemar Stewart. It is tall, trembling and strong, and has an off -line defensive construction excluding assembly. But for all his athletic features, he has not almost produced his talent as an aged, and there are many teams on him.
“The most surface guy in the draft,” said a coach. “Look at the last two years. Did he make a game? I kept watching, there is no conscience, no instincts. I can’t overcome the lack of production. … It’s a boom or a bust. It is a swing for fences.”
In this sense, if he is on the board of directors for the former Texas A & M Dan Campbell (who probably has a good information pipeline at College Station) and the lions at 28 years old, it will be interesting to see what is going on.
• Carson Schwesinger from the UCLA is an interesting player to watch. A framework told me that it was difficult to study other defenders of Bruins because Schwesinger seemed to make each game. I don’t think he will go to the first round, but if he does it, he would be an interesting adjustment to Baltimore at 26 years old.
• The availability of CB Jaire Alexander during the weekend will be interesting to watch, especially if Green Bay takes a corner at 23 years old. I think that the corner and the receiver are at stake. Maybe the offensive line too, with three starters entering years of contract, although I think the plan to give in the first round in 2024, Jordan Morgan, a chance to compete with Rasheed Walker for the left tackle point gives them a certain flexibility to these positions.
