President Trump told journalists in the White House yesterday that the United States would have a good agreement with China. The high prices of the president sparked a trade war between the two largest economies in the world. Beijing has a 125% rate on American products, which came in response to the 145% price that the Trump administration has placed on Chinese products. It is not clear if the policy changes will come with the change of tone of Trump.

- 🎧 There are two main reasons for the quarterSaid Asma Khalid of NPR First. If the prices remain in place, trade between China and the United States will stop practically. The change in tone is also fundamental to the stock market and the economic uncertainty that Trump’s prices have created. The president initially recognized that there could be short -term economic pain, but it would be worth it. Khalid says that his team boasted of the conclusion agreements. Anna Ashton, who has been with the United States-China affairs council for years, says that constant threats of the White House and “wild oscillations” in commitment to these threats make Chinese President Xi Jinping will come to the table to negotiate.
Trump and Vice-President JD Vance push Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept a peace agreement supported by the United States. On Truth Social, Trump was unleashed in Zelenskyy after having rejected a proposal to accept the annexation of Crimea in 2014 by Russia in Ukraine. Tensions between the United States and Ukraine came while the two countries worked with European officials yesterday in London to discuss the means of putting an end to the war.
- 🎧 The White House did not publicly offer details on the peace planBut that clearly promotes Russia strongly on paper, says Charles Maynes of NPR. For Ukraine, it seems that recognizing the Crimean Peninsula is a non-beginner. Trump wants peace now and considers the lever effect on kyiv as the fastest way to get there, which is why Maynes think that the president asks a lot of Ukraine and so little Russia.
Yesterday, Trump signed a radical list of executive actions targeting higher education and kindergarten schools to the 12th year. Actions include proposals to eliminate the Collège dei programs and new disciplinary advice for public schools. One of the orders of higher education orders the Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to “revise” the college accreditation system. Another action threatens to revoke the federal university subsidies if schools do not complete “the complete and timely disclosure of foreign funding”.
- 🎧 Elissa Nadworny of NPR says that the Trump administration is trying to create ways to hold responsible colleges For “ideological sural” and increase “intellectual diversity” on campus. An action targeting schools from kindergarten to 12th year calls for revoking previous policies aimed at reducing racial disparities in discipline practices such as suspensions and evictions, says Nadworny. Some other executive actions focus on strengthening workforce training and improving AI in schools. The collection of actions focuses on the cementing of the Trump conservative agenda concerning education in the United States

For the first time in five years, the Ministry of Education will resume collections on default student loans. From May 5, the ministry can start taking funds from tax reimbursements for borrowers, social security services and possibly wages. The change will have an impact on 5.3 million borrowers who have gone in default before the pandemic. NPR spoke with experts on the subject. Here is what they say you should know:
- 🎓 The ministry says that it will contact the borrowers who are default before May 5, by email and publications on social networks, “reminding them of their obligations”.
- 🎓 People can check their status by connecting to Studentaid.Gov. The dashboard should show how much you need. If you are in default, there should be a warning message.
- 🎓The three main ways to get out of the defect are to reimburse loans in full, consolidation of loans and rehabilitation. The consolidation option is to reimburse the default loans with new refund conditions. Rehabilitation obliges the borrower to make several consecutive payments in time of an amount based on income.
