Weeks of suspense on what the browns will do with the second overall choice of draft ends Thursday evening.
The team could always exchange this choice, but if they keep it, the wait is that it will use it on the winner of the Heisman trophy, Travis Hunter. Taking Hunter would mean that the Browns have the player at the top of most of the draft boards and it would also start questions about how he will deploy a player who has prospered both as a wide receiver and cornerback.
On Wednesday, head coach Kevin Stefanski said at a press conference that “you certainly wanted to include players in these discussions” because it is “really so incumbent on the player and what they can manage early.” Stefanski continued by saying that he thinks Hunter has the rare ability to manage everything.
“Well, not entering all the details, but Travis is someone who is only equipped to make both,” said Stefanski, via a team transcription. “You know, I remember having a conversation with him, there are only so many hours in the day, so you will have to meet an additional cost with this coach or this coach, and he made a comment that he is a fisherman. He gets up at five in the morning quite often, so it is not a problem for him in terms of maximization of his day.”
The Browns have never deleted the big during the era of the Super Bowl and we will soon know if Hunter is part of the plan to change this once and for all.
