The chances of the Golden State Warriors to take a 2-0 advance on Houston’s Rockets in their first round series suffered a significant success in the first half of Wednesday match 2 when Jimmy Butler suffered an injury during a hard fall.
Golden State announced that Butler had been excluded for the rest of the competition with a pool bruise after he could not prepare in the fall:
Houston ended up winning the match on the series.
Butler should undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the extent of the injury, by Ohm Youngmisuk d’Espn.
Head coach Steve Kerr told journalists: “Jimmy always says that he is going well” while warning that the team will wait for the MRI results before making decisions on his status:
The six times All-Star collected three points and two rebounds in eight minutes before the injury.
Golden State turned around his season by acquiring Butler with the Miami Heat via the trade before the deadline of February. He achieved 23-7 in 30 games with him on the ground, then managed Memphis’ grizzles in the game tournament largely because of his performance.
He paid 38 points to go with seven rebounds, six assists and three interceptions in this match against Memphis, then continued his excellent game with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five interceptions in the victory of match 1 against Houston.
Butler’s presence supports part of the offensive pressure on Stephen Curry and gives the Warriors another player who can take over for prolonged stretching and capitalize on the spacing created by the gravitational attraction of the goalkeeper.
Fortunately for Golden State, he has two full days after the competition on Wednesday before match 3 of Saturday at home.
After all, he probably needs to go back and in good health if it will pass the rockets in the second seeded and perhaps challenge for a deep race in the playoffs of the Western Conference.
While Jonathan Kuminga recently fell from the team rotation, he is probably more minutes who will see more minutes until Butler is ready to come back.
