In addition to the fine, Apple has received an order for transfer and desire requiring that it makes other modifications of the products in late June. If the company does not comply, the Commission can refine it for each additional day, it is in violation of the law.
The Commission is currently as -valued at the changes that Meta introduced at the end of last year to comply with the regulations.
The procedural fines are below the two giant sanctions issued by the EU executive under its antitrust laws last year: 1.8 billion euros in Apple for having abused its dominant position while distributing musical streaming applications and 797 million euros in Meta for having pushed its classified advertising services on social media users.
A senior EU said that by determining that the sanctions announced on Wednesday that the Commission had aware that it was the first fines issued under DMA, and that, for the meta, the counterfeiting ceased in November, just a few months after Brussels disseminated its concerns.
In total, the Commission adopted five DMA decisions on Wednesday. In addition to non-compliance decisions, Meta and Apple received a sweetener.
The EU executive announced that it had closed an investigation into Apple’s conformity with the DMA rules on browsers and default applications following modifications that helped competitors like Mozilla to gain a foothold on iOS devices.
