Elon Musk announced that he will go back from the White House office after spending three months trying to radically reshape the federal government and its workforce.
“As of next month, I will all be all the time of my time in Tesla,” he said, “now that the main creation work of the Government Ministry of efficiency,” said Musk when Tesla’s Tesla winning calls on Tuesla.
He said he would continue to spend a day or two a week in government matters, “as long as she is useful”, and the president wants him to do it.
Musk’s announcement comes on Tuesla’s disappointing quarterly results on Tuesday.
As part of Musk’s unofficial leadership, DOGE has targeted a wide bunch of federal agencies, including the dismantling of the American agency for international development, the attempt to access sensitive data and payment systems at the internal income and treasury service service, and to try to close the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Musk has also helped Trump empty the federal workforce thanks to buying offers to government employees, mass layoffs of probationary workers and a reduction in staff such as the National Institutes of Health.
Despite its large -scale targeting of federal agencies and workers, DOGE was not close to its savings objectives. Musk first promised that its radical Doge Cups would save taxpayers for 2 dollars, but then downgraded to $ 1 billion, and again at $ 150 billion,
DOGE’s demanded savings were riddled with errors and corrections, in particular by removing $ 4 billion from its “receipt wall” in March, reducing its real estate savings by $ 150 million later this month, and reducing its savings complaints by more than $ 9 billion over two days in February.
The involvement of Musk with Doge has never been supposed to be permanent – as a “employee of the special government”, it is not authorized to serve more than 130 days in a period of 365 days.
As part of Trump’s initial decree, the Doge Office can take place until July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence. We do not know what will happen with the initiative being now given that many main leaders of Doge are longtime musk allies.
