HOUSTON – The Padres de San Diego believe that this is a “best case” for the inner field player Luis Arraez, which was transported Sunday to a local hospital following a macabre collision with the first goal in the first round of a match against the Astros of Houston.
Arraez returned to the clubhouse of the Padres in Daikin Park after their 3-2 victory against the Astros, an hour after the club said it was stable after being transported from the field. Arraez posted later on Instagram that “there is nothing to fear” and that on Monday he would join the paadres, who went to Detroit after losing two of the three in Houston.
After the match, manager Mike Shildt admitted that Arraez had “had a period when he did not know when he was”.
“The best of cases with Luis,” said Shildt. “Obviously, very scary. We think it is, for the most part, out of the woods. More time will tell us, but the initial tests are very favorable. No fractures of any kind. I mean he worried a little about his cervical region (spine). Everything was clear, stable on the initial test.
“Everything comes back to him now, and his initial tests from the concussion point of view were favorable, but clearly, we are not out of the woods. All well considered, it is a blessing.”
Luis Arraez was placed on a stretcher and transported from the field after colliding with Mauricio Dubon at the first goal.

Arraez collided with the second Houston player, Mauricio Dubón, after putting a sacrifice. Dubón’s shoulder seemed to contact the chef’s chef, who remained motionless on the ground while the training staff of the two teams rushed to his aid.
“I tried to stay on the bag. It was at full speed. I just prepared myself and I closed my eyes. I couldn’t move anywhere or anything, that’s why I just tried to take it,” said Dubón.
“I couldn’t have done anything. I prepared myself. I thought I was going to get worse. I’m not a big guy. It just happened. “
Arraez stayed on the ground for more than 10 minutes while the coaches of the two clubs and at least one doctor of the Astros team provided help. The teammates Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. looked at the stage with Shildt, the third base coach Tim Leiper and the first base coach David Macias.
The medical staff placed to snatch on a cart with a splint around his neck and pad their heads. He gave a boost with his right hand while the cart started. Padres assistant sports coach Ricky Huerta accompanied Arraez on the cart while he was leaving the field.
The paadres announced on X less than an hour later that Arraez was transported to Houston’s Methodist Hospital and was “stable, conscious, reactive and capable of moving its extremities”.
“I really hope the best for him. It was really scary,” said Astros Joe Espada manager. “I thought we had defended it well. It is really difficult to stop the momentum of a second basic player at full speed, catching this ball. It is difficult to prevent it from happening. I really hope it is fine.”
Arraez, the defending national league champion and the first first goal player in the Padres, entered the match on Sunday .287 / .330 / .425 in his first 95 plaque matches. He was replaced as a named shot in the programming by Gavin Sheets, who struck a simple RBI during the third round on the first land he saw of the Starter Framber Valdez.
Arraez, 28, is the first major feature to win three consecutive strikers with three different teams. The Padres acquired it last in May in a business with the Marlins of Miami, and Arraez quickly established itself as a catalyst for the San Diego attack and a well appreciated teammate.
Toreez played a thumb injury for most of last summer. He tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb on a slide in June, finished the season in the stick. 314 and underwent surgery to repair the ligament in October.
Padres already have several key gem away this season. The central field player Jackson Merrill (Start of the right hamstrings), the second basic player Jake Cronenworth (fracture of the non-moved coasts), the left-hand player Jason Heyward (inflammation of the left knee) and the Brandon Lockrridge reserve voltiseur (Start of the left hamstrings) have landed on the List of Wounded in the past two weeks. The veteran leaving for the launcher Yu Darvish (inflammation of the right elbow) opened the season on the IL.
If Arrae is missing the prolonged time, the paadres could divide the first base tasks between the leaves, Connor Joe and Yuli Gurriel. The receiver Luis Campusano, currently in triple A, could be a candidate to present himself as an option with the designated striker.
