AFL legend Stephen Silvagni won two Prime Ministers with Carlton in his decorated days – but Bad Blood remains clearly after his dismissal by the Blues in 2019 when he was the boss of the club list.
Silvagni, 57, is expected to be a non-presentation during the Première 30-year celebrations of Carlton this weekend in Melbourne after their triumph in 1995.
The defender was dismissed by CEO Cain Liddle in December 2019, the club citing a conflict of interest since the sons of Silvagni Jack and Ben both played for the Blues.
In March 2023, the man affectionately known as “SOS” was invited to Carlton’s Shed to celebrate Jack’s 100th career match – but rather chose to sit in his car.
And this weekend, Silvagni is based on the functions of two Blues – including a team that gathers at MCG – toasting the success of the club 30 years ago in the same place.
Speaking on Channel Seven Setteurs of the agenda Monday evening, veteran journalist Caroline Wilson estimated that it was sad Silvagni will not catch up with her teammates.

“You shouldn’t fall with your football club where you played in a position as Prime Minister,” she said.
AFLW’s legend, Daisy Pearce, has also weighed on the issue.

At the end of the 2019 season, Stephen Silvagni left Carlton in controversial circumstances after falling with club management.
A furious Silvagni later told Sen Radio which he deserved better given his 17 years of service and believed that the situation was poorly managed.
Silvagni is currently the St Kilda list manager.
Meanwhile, the Blues relaunched their campaign in 2025 after a shocking start which experienced four successive defeats.
With his job that would be on the line, coach Michael Voss has since orchestrated victories on the west coast and northern Melbourne during the fortnight.
