YOr would have thought that the introduction of Marvel’s first family, The Fantastic Four, in the MCU would be heavy enough for a film. But while all eyes were on the potential ramifications of the bad galactus which presents itself for the planetary snack time, the new trailer of the Fantastic Four: First Steps offers a revenge revelation in mind: Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) is pregnant.
It looks like great news. As they prepare to face their colossal enemy and its emotional emotional emissary unavailable silver surfer (Julia Garner), Reed Richards by Pedro Pascal, the thing Johnny Storm of Joseph Quinn and the fact of the version inspired by the earth. And if you have even slightly traveled the rear catalog of Fantastic Four Comics, you will know that it is not an ordinary pregnancy; And certainly no ordinary infant.
In his printed incarnation, Storm’s first child and Richards grew up to become Franklin Richards, a superhero so powerful that he once dreamed of an entire pocket universe during a sugar accident.
Imagine Jack-Jack of the Indestructibles if he could rewrite the laws of physics whenever someone told him that it was sleeping, and you are starting to get the idea. At one point, Reed had to zap his own son with a psychic damping device to prevent Franklin from unconsciously folding the fabric of reality into a swan of origin of existential despair. We are talking about dentition problems if the “dentition” includes the accidentally erasure of causality because the nap time was five minutes late.
The way it affects the intrigue of the first steps is yet to be seen, and it is always possible that Franklin will remain a fetus throughout the events of Matt Shakman’s film. But there is every chance that the arrival of this almost incredibly overcooked character is the very thing that brought Galactus to Earth.
We still do not know how the Fantastic Four will find themselves in the main Marvel reality from the moment when Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas next year, or even if the new version of Robert Downey Jr-Essayed du Doctor Doom is from the same chronology as Richards et al. But already, the blogosphere buzzes with theories according to which Franklin will ultimately be responsible for a restart of Marvel Sweet, which will emit the dead weight of the MCU and perhaps restore Iron Man, Black Widow and T’Chaka to the main continuity.
In the comics, the Fantastic Four were the first modern Marvel superheroes, making its debut in 1961 when Spider-Man, The X-Men and The Hulk were all still sparkling in the eyes of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It is therefore quite logical that the studio presents them in a world where no other cape exists.
What we do not yet understand is why this particular land has attracted the attention of a god of space eater of planet in a hat the size of a football stadium. But if it is not Franklin Richards who appears in reality, then the title of the film, the implacable tequines of Marvel of Storm’s pregnancy, and this snapshot which incubated an empty cradle will be the greatest ill -oriented in the history of comic strip cinema.
Does Galactus himself trample at the end of the trailer in size 40,000 boots, traveling this version inspired by jetsons on Manhattan? If this is the case, it seems that Marvel may have rather reduced the supervillain – a canonically cosmic giant capable of nibbling whole solar systems. Here again, the celestial gutbucket preceded the surface of the earth in the comics, and at least Hollywood does not make it here as a giant cosmic pet which hides in the clouds.
