Houston – The Warriors Big Man Draymond Green are finalists for the prize of the defensive player of the year 2024-25.
The NBA announced Sunday before the opening of the Warriors series against the Rockets that Green was in the running for the prize alongside Evan Mobley in Cleveland and Dyson Dyson in Atlanta.
Green, 35, has an average of 1.5 interceptions and 1.0 blocks per game in the regular season. He was appointed defensive player of the western conference of the month for March.
During the solid Green game in March, the Warriors coach Steve Kerr compared Green to two of his former Chicago Bulls teammates in the 1990s.
“You can see the parallels, the length, the physicity and, finally, it is here, it is the brain, and Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen were the two smartest defenders I have ever assisted, and Draymond is incredible in this regard,” said Kerr.
The versatile big man is a selection of fully defensive team eight times and has won the 2016-2017 defensive player award.
It has long been considered a better defensive player for its ability to keep both on the perimeter and near the edge. This season, he took more minutes as a center, finally taking on the starting role in the middle, because the Warriors had trouble finding solutions on site.
Green has publicly Politic for the prize in recent months in press conferences and interviews and via his own platform on his podcast.
“When I look around the league, I don’t see many players who have an impact on the game on the defensive as I do, said Green.” I do not see many players throwing the offenses from other teams completely as I do. “”
