The Ahl affiliate of San Jose Sharks will start Thursday in Los Angeles.
San Jose Barracuda lost 4-0 against Calgary’s Wranglers at Scotiakank Saddledome on Sunday to finish the regular season in sixth place in the AHL Pacific division with 81 points. San Jose (36-27-5-4) entered the match in fifth place but has lagged behind Calgary with the loss of regulatory time.
The Barracuda start the Calder Cup qualifiers with a series of the best of the three against the Reign Ontario, with all the matches in southern California. Matches 1 and 2 will be in Crypto.com Arena, who houses the Kings of Los Angeles, Thursday and Saturday, respectively, and match 3, if necessary, will be in Toyota Arena in Ontario on Monday. The reign is the affiliate of the AHL of the Kings.
To organize an eliminatory match in Tech Cu Arena in San Jose, the Barracuda should go to the second round.
San Jose has only won four of his last 10 games, but still finished with 19 points more than last season’s team, which was the last in the Pacific division at 10 teams.
The Andrew Paturalski center led the Barracuda and won the Lah score title with 73 points, but it was faced with an injury to the lower body, and its availability for the first round is in question. The latest Paturalski match took place on March 28, and was considered week to week to week since the start of this month.
The other best scorers for the Barracuda are the defender Luca Cagnoni (52 points), the winger Danil Gushchin (51 points) and the striker Ethan Cardwell (48 points).
Goalkeeper Yaroslav Askarov, who will probably be on the alignment of the Sharks next season, has played three games this month since his return from an injury at the bottom of the body which cost him six weeks. In these three games, Askarov was 1-2-0 with a percentage of .930 stops.
The Barracuda went 3-4-0-1 against the reign this season. The two teams separated their last two meetings on April 11 and 12 in San Jose, the Barracuda winning the first 4-1 game and losing the second 4-0 game.
