The Mirada – Orange Softball Lutheran team seems to play its best at the right time.
With approximately 2 1/2 weeks in the regular season, the throws delivered a well-balanced effort to capture the classic of the Mirada by refreshing the Matadores 13-3 host in a Rule Mercy shortcut on the last Saturday evening at the Jennie Finch Field.
First year student Rylee Silva launched six solid rounds while Cate Medvitz and Chloe McGreevey hit the circuits while throws (20-3) actually made the sequence of 15 consecutive Mirada victories.
Two weeks ago, Orange Lutheran avenged a previous defeat against Norco on the way to a finalist in the Michelle Carew Classic.
“We have a good time,” said Orange Miklos Lutheran coach. “We had two very good games today. We took him to certain teams. (We) swing (bats), and throughout the programming. We are marking. “
“For us, it’s good to see a good quality team to prepare for the playoffs,” added the coach. “You don’t want to peak in February. You have to improve yourself and I think we did.”
Orange Lutheran, ranked second in Orange County, beat South Hills 14-4 in a five-round match earlier on Saturday.
Tuesday, the throws managed Mater Dei 7-0 to open a two-game advance in the Trinity League.
For a team with championship aspirations in CIF-SS division 1, the results were impressive.
“You just have to win everything,” said the Lutheran center player of Orange Kai Minor about the objective of his team for the playoffs. “It’s a good time (to play well) because we are starting to conclude the league, and go to CIF, we want to be in the right place. It sets the tone.”
Medvitz sparked the attack by 11 strokes of Orange Lutheran against Mirada (20-4). Cleaning with the stick in order, the sensor on the left led to a minor and Sierra Nichols with a simple first round.
A round later, shot No. 9 Olivia Oskorus tripled on the left field line with two withdrawals. Nichols followed with a RBI single and Madelyn Archandariz added a double of two points to push the advance to 5-0.
In the fourth, Minor lacé a double RBI before Medvitz launched a two-point home run for an 8-0 advantage. Medvitz also dominated the South hills.
Minor, a senior linked to Oklahoma, finished 3 for 3 and scored three points on the way to win the MVP of the tournament.
McGreevey, who struck seventh, struck a big slam to highlight a sixth of five points.
Silva (12-2) dispersed six strokes, including solo home runs for the elderly at Amanda Urbina (Oregon) and Angelyna Conde (Texas Tech) university. The powerful power of the Mirada lacked at least two starters, but Silva withdrew four and walked.
“She is doing really well,” said Medvitz about Silva. “She worked on her spin because she had this speed. She reaches maximum speed and also works on spin.”
“She has this Moxy,” said Mirada coach Brent Tuttle, about Silva. “This child has launched hard today. She launched stronger today than she did in Bullhead. ”
Orange Lutheran has ahead of Mirada 5-4 in the Dave Kops Champions Tournament in March.
