Pune: India obtained its place in the playoffs during the Billie Jean King Cup by finishing second after a 2-1 victory against South Korea in its last match in Asia-Oceania of group 1 here.
This is only the second time that India has qualified for the playoffs of the Billie Jean King Cup, the previous one to come in 2020. New Zealand obtained first place in the tournament after beating Hong Kong, in China 2-1 in its last match.
It was a dream start for Shrivalli Bamidipaty, which maintained a spotless record in the tournament. Playing against the SOHYUN Park Classified 248th, Shrivalli gave in a first hard set, before taking matters into hand to organize a return.
