Joseph Seiders, the drummer of the New Pornographer group, was arrested for juvenile pornography on April 9 in Palm Desert, California, according to a police report on April 17. The group has since cut all links with it. Police first learned of the suspect behavior of an April 7 call that led them to an 11 -year -old boy who said that a stranger had recorded him in the toilet. A second call arrived on April 9, describing the same behavior in the same place, confirmed as a Chick-Fil-A by Kesq News. The police then arrived and arrested Seiders. After the arrest, the police obtained a search warrant and found other elements of evidence in the apartment of Seiders, ultimately accusing him of juvenile pornography, embarrassing a child, invasion of privacy and attempted invasion of privacy.
“Everyone in the group is absolutely shocked, horrified and devastated by the news of accusations against Joe Seiders – and we immediately broke all links with him,” the new pornographers said in a statement on April 18. “Our hearts go to all those who have been affected by its actions.” Seiders is not a founding member of the group but has played with them since 2014. The first studio album of the group on which he played was 2017 White conditions. Seiders is expected to return to court on Tuesday.
