Ryan Gosling must play in a new Star Wars film, which is expected to be released in two years.
The new Disney project is titled Star Wars: Starfighter, and will be led by Deadpool & Wolverine, director Shawn Levy.
“The reality is that this script is so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters,” said Barbie Gosling actor during a celebration of Star Wars in Tokyo.
“It is filled with so much heart and adventure, and there is really not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.”
Gosling’s passion for the franchise was exhibited during the event, which showed its Star Wars bed sheets on the screen of his childhood.
“You can see in the photo, I guess I probably dreamed of Star Wars before I even see the film,” he said.
“And it is probably framed my idea of what a film was,” he said.
Taking place on May 7, 2027, the film is an autonomous story and will not follow the main intrigue of the Skywalker family and recent consequences with Daisy Ridley.
Few details on the scenario have been revealed.
According to the Star Wars website, it is “set about five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” with Gosling playing a new character.
The new space adventure is “not a prequel, not a sequel, it’s a new adventure. It is in a time of time that we have not yet been explored,” added Levy.
The next release from Star Wars film should be the Mandalorian and Grogu, a sequel to the Mandalorian with Pedro Pascal and directed by Jon Favreau.
Gosling was nominated for the Oscars for his representation of Ken in Barbie Blockbuster of 2023, who also featured Margot Robbie.
The Canadian actor, known for his roles in La Land and the notebook, also played a stuntman from The Fall Guy last year.
