Gene Hackman’s handyman speaks after finding the Oscar-winning actor, 95, and his classic pianist, Betsy Arakawa, 65, died in their house in Santa Fe, in New Mexico, last February.
Jesse Kesler, who was the couple to do the couple for 16 years, revealed in an interview with Fox News that he had made a wellness check on the couple because they were concerned about them.
He said he had gone through their house after he had not heard of Arakawa for two weeks, which was out of the norm because he generally spoke to him every three days.
It was then that he said he knew something was wrong.
After not being able to reach Hackman’s family, Kesler decided to go home himself and check the couple.
“We could only family members. … We were getting a family member, and that took too long,” he told Fox. “And finally, finally, I saw the security guard, and that’s where I and entered him.”
Kesler also told the Daily Mail he wanted to go faster because for him, he “could have saved Gene or the dog”.
New Bodycam police sequences published on Tuesday captured a conversation between Kesler and the authorities, according to TMZ.
In the images, Kelser told the cops that he had fallen on the body of Arakawa. He also informed them that the house is hackman and that the couple appreciated intimacy, while telling them to keep the incident silent.
Kesler was also concerned about the well-being of one of the dogs, who was then found dead in a box.
Despite Kesler’s complaint, Hackman’s daughter, Leslie, told Fox News that she had never spoken to Kesler before and that she had no idea that a wellness check was prosecuted.
“No one had stood her hand,” said Leslie. She also added that the authorities did not contact her about the well-being of her father until he and his wife were found at home.
The Sheriff’s Bureau of the County of Sante Fe also said that they had not been contacted about a well-being check until they received a call to 911 about the bodies found on February 26.
