Taking someone in a Mosh pit after having a fall is a common courtesy, even if it is in a festival where Lady Gaga is headlining.
“Some of the most beautiful people you will meet in this festival are in this tent here,” said Jayson Santiago de Sacramento. “Outside, I know that people could consider it crazy or violent, but there is order and rules that are not found in other live music shows.”
The tent to which Santiago refers is the Sonora’s tent, which, in recent years at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, invited Punk Rock acts conversations to more hardcore cats like cowards to compose the Undercard in a festival generally stacked with EDM, independent and pop acts.
“There is certainly a place for that here, even if you just look at this crowd,” said Daniel Lee, who went out to watch Speed’s set on the weekend one of the festivals. “The Internet has really changed what was underground and made music like hardcore more accessible than before. I was going to hardcore shows in basements or backgrounds, but now it’s in Coachella.”
Just before the two weekend two, we take a look at some of the raw, energetic and rebels acts that have headed for Coachella 2025. If you cannot go to the festival for the two weekend, consult where you can broadcast these acts from your home here.
Mild game
The British duo, composed of Isaac Holman (main voice, drums) and Laurie Vincent (song, guitar and bass), was one of Coachella’s most entertaining acts this year. Despite their tattooed and rough look, they are actually quite stupid.
They made jokes with each other and got rid of in a way that presented the chemistry shared by the two, associated with some of the festive music in the Fest. One of the funniest songs of the weekend was their performance as “John Wick”. They delighted on the way the franchise is the best of the cinema never realized and shared that they wrote it from the point of view of Keanu Reeves playing the character. Before their weekend performances, they made a plea with Reeves, who plays the fictitious character, to go out on stage with them.
“We would like you to hear it, and it would be a dream come true if you came to play the bass with us in Coachella – a little love. Isaac (33) and Laurie (32) XX,” wrote the duo on Instagram.
Although they have this rebellious and aggressive element, they do not consider sweet game as a punk rock.
“Hardcore is a scene, but punk rock is more an overused label and consists more of being your authentic self, and in this regard, Sheryl Crow can be more punk rock than Punk Rock,” said Vincent in an interview at the festival. “If you are authentic towards yourself, then it is a good intention, but as soon as the term has criteria, we are not interested. We have never intended to be a punk group; this is exactly what people call us. We are our own thing, and we are interested in music authentically itself, whether heavy or sweet.”

Bob Vylan
Another British duo that occurred at the Sonora’s tent a few hours earlier than the sweet game was Bob Vylan. The singer, who goes through Bob Vylan, and drummer Bobbie Vylan look at an old -fashioned antifascist attitude that punk rock has often adopted, in particular the British groups which were part of the rock movement against racism in the 70s. The group occurred with a sign that read “Bob Vylan Killed Punk”, an open embrace Group received for having written on their black identity and their experiences in the United Kingdom in their words, they call racism in Europe, especially in the song “We Live Here”, where the Frontman sings on the murder of Racitan Britain, the first racial time, the First Time, the First Time, Raciale Murder of 18 Year, racial on his childhood field. Punk rock has often been used to repel as a rebellion tool, and Bob Vylan channels it with power.

Amyl and sniffle
Although there are several acts led by women at the festival, none of them has the grain and the presence on stage of Amyl and the Sniffers. The Australian group led by Amy Taylor provides noisy, fast and politically loaded music that feels recalled the raw energy of Iggy Pop with the greater personality and mind of Dolly Parton. During the performance of the group on Sunday April 13, Taylor jumped and ran around the scene, leaving the energy of the music channel through it. There was also a time when the frontwoman extended his heart to the people of Palestine and Ukraine.
“This is the third time that I have seen them live,” said Lauren Bucannon of Florida, “I saw them once in Europe with a friend and they just foul me, so it was cool to have another chance to look at them again and Amy Kickass on stage. She’s so fun to watch.”

Speed
The only hardcore act of this year also comes from Australia and proudly represents Sydney. Although the Hardcore scene of Australia is not large, Speed found their community during the period of isolation of the Pandemic of Covid-19. They downloaded their song, “We See U”, and have become viral, obtaining fans of fans around the world, including Travis Barker. The group manages to overcome its sound with heavy progressions of chords and scathing voices, which often leads to a dive on stage, mosh pits and a hardcore dance that can quickly become rare. During Coachella’s first weekend, singer Jem Siow expressed his gratitude and astonishment to get a place at the festival.
“I grew up as a hardcore child in my room and playing only in Sydney for our friends and our family, we play here on the big stage and it’s crazy,” said Siow. “Because of this thing that we call hardcore, I made my best friends around the world. Hardcore for me concerns my family, living in the moment and making memories. ”

Viagra boys
While most punk groups have fun with their words, no one has a better time than Swedish punk rockers Viagra boys. They have a satirical approach to punk rock and make fun of hypermicalinity in a way that can not help making you smile when you see them live. Whether it is the repeated “sports” lyrics in one of their most comical songs or the main singer Sebastian Murphy shaking his hips and undressing on his boxers on stage, the group is the quintessence of a punk rock caricaturization while maintaining a sound with attitude. When you are looking to be an auto-indulgent punker, mount the boys from Viagra and crack a beer.
