Manu Bhaker praises the growing talent for the shooting of India
Suruchi Singh, who is only 18 years old and Jhajjar, pulled a final score of 243.6 to win his second consecutive gold in the World Cup. She beat the double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, who marked 242.3. The China’s Yao Qianxun won the bronze medal.
“I am happy to see more Indian shooters coming and very well, especially on the international scene. It makes me really happy and I think India is going in the right direction,” said Manu Bhaker after the match.
“We all know the name of Suruchi. She did exceptionally well in Buenos Aires (World Cup) as well as here. So I am really happy for her and I hope it continues for a long time. And, with young people, I hope that I also maintain the pace,” she added.
In the final, Suruchi started strongly and quickly moved to higher positions. The Yao in China took the lead, but Suruchi remained calm and concentrated. While the shots continued, she continued to improve and finally evolved in front of Manu in the last stages. Manu had a few shots at low score in the middle, which cost him gold.
This gold is the second consecutive victory of the consecutive World Cup in this event, after its first in Buenos Aires earlier this month. She had also won a bronze medal in the mixed team team with Saurabh Chaudhary in this competition.
In the 10 m male air pistol event, Sarabh Chaudhary obtained a bronze medal for India. With gold, silver and bronze on the day of opening, India is currently at the top of the medals. China is second place with gold and bronze. Brazil is placed third with money in its name.
