OAKLAND – A 33 -year -old Oakland man was sentenced this week to seven years in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, prosecutors said.
Pedro Juarez was found guilty of the accusation on September 25, according to the office of the American prosecutor.
On August 16, 2023, Juarez forced a woman whom he knew how to travel with him from San Jose to San Francisco, prosecutors said. After letting the woman leave, she called 911 and the officers went down to her location.
Juarez tried to run, prosecutors said, adding that he had pulled a handgun in charge of his belt and pointed him on the police. However, his arm hit a balustrade and the pistol fell on the ground.
Having already been found guilty of a crime, Juarez was prevented from having firearms or ammunition.
In addition to the sentence of seven years in prison, Juarez was ordered to serve three years of supervised liberation, which will start when he leaves the prison and to give up his interest in firearm and ammunition.
Juarez is in detention and will immediately start to serve his sentence, prosecutors said.
