Columbus – Columbus Crew acquired the designated player and midfielder Daniel Gazdag in a cash exchange with the Union philadelphia in exchange for $ 4 million and up to $ 500,000 in conditional incentives based on performance. The Hungarian international is under contract for the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.

He is an experienced player who turned out to be one of the best players in our league in recent years,” said the director general of the Issa Tall team. “His high football IQ, his work ethics on and out of the ball, and the competitive spirit will be an excellent addition to our team. Daniel’s profile is the one we were looking for to complete our current group, and we are delighted to see him start in darkness and gold.”
Gazdag scored a summit of 59 goals for the union from 2021 to 2025 and ranks fourth on the club’s aid table with 31 years in regular season. He recorded 14 winning goals and seven assists. In total, the Hungarian has nine multi-goal performances, including Three Hat Tricks (Colorado Rapids, August 27, 2022; Toronto FC, October 9, 2022; and Nashville SC, July 20, 2024).
Last season, Gazdag equaled a team with 17 goals and added three assists, its third consecutive season with more than 10 goals.
In 2022, Gazdag won the best honors of MLS XI after having set the record for a single union season with 22 goals, a shy by the winner of the golden boot Hany Mukhtar. On the day of the decision, Gazdag posted a hat trick and provided a decisive pass in the union’s 4-0 victory against the Toronto FC, just becoming the sixth player in MLS history with at least 20 goals and 10 assists in a single regular season. He also led the union to the first appearance of the MLS Cup Club and scored the opening goal of Philadelphia in 3-3 which was finally won by LaFC in penalties. Gazdag spent two -digit goals (14) and assists (11) in 2023.
Before joining the Union, Gazdag spent eight years playing for Budapest Honvéd FC in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the high level league in Hungary.
Internationally, Gazdag won 29 ceilings for the Hungarian national male team, scoring four goals. He made his senior debut in a friendly match against Montenegro on September 5, 2019 and scored his first international goal on March 31, 2021 against Andorra. During the recent March FIFA window, Gazdag appeared in the two playoffs of Hungary of the UEFA Nations against Turkiye.
